In this post ,we will know about “Testing metrics in Agile”. Software testing metrics are the ways by which quality of software can be measured. It provides insight view of effectiveness of your quality process followed.
In this article we will see different testing metrics in agile which measures the process and performance of agile quality teams.
Following are the key Agile testing metrics .
1). Burndown Charts : It is the graphical representation of progress of the project. it is used to show the graphical work where a team divide their work in the form of sprints and show their work through metric in agile.
Burn down charts shows the rate at which features which is completed during the iteration. We always use to provide the view of remaining time required to complete the sprint. Burndown charts give you a very smart and clear image for your work related status ,it is going in plan way or not.
It provides the information about the following:
- Remaining work in the iteration
- Work completed in each iteration
- The difference between planned and actual performance in terms of time.
2). Cumulative Work Flow -agile: A agile cumulative flow diagram maps an whole project’s workflow. It also add all tasks of the the team which is still needs to complete and tasks already completed.
Cumulative work flow show the overview and conclusion parts of a project . It is also used for measuring the work-in-progress task,velocity,testing ,task which is completed and latest backlog.
3). Velocity : Velocity is a mathematical approach to identify how much work a team completes on average during each sprint, comparing the actual completed tasks with the team’s estimated efforts.
The role of Agile managers is to measures to the velocity metrics expected measurement for team can work to achieve the completion goal to compare the average story points and which is also compare with back sprints.
- It is used to show the metrics for testing team.
4). Defect Cycle Time : One of the main aims of the Agile approach is to fix the bugs quicker so that software can be tested and releases soon. To achieve this testers require effective communication with developers about defects.
Defect Cycle time used to measures the total time it takes to complete a task from the moment work begins on that task. It is a useful Agile metric as it shows how well the Agile team works as a team in fixing defects.
5). Defect Spill-Over : Defect spill-over provides the defects which are not fixed during a given iteration or sprint by counting the defects remaining at the start of each sprint or iteration.
This metric gives the agile team an idea of how they are dealing with issues that arise. It is a graphical representation of showing remaining defects per sprint or iteration. In ideal case there should be few defect spill over in iterations.
